Tailored web applications with PHP and Symfony. From idea to finished product. Clean architecture, modern patterns.
Custom WordPress plugins, Gutenberg blocks, theme modifications, and WooCommerce extensions. All following WordPress Coding Standards.
REST APIs with Slim PHP and Symfony. Clean endpoints, authentication, documentation. Integration with external services and data sources.
Joining existing development teams as an external PHP specialist. Remote, self-directed, flexible.
Alongside my core focus on .NET, I bring solid experience in PHP development. From WordPress plugins to custom web applications and Symfony projects. Clean code is a given for me in the PHP world as well.
My PHP experience includes:
The combination of .NET and PHP experience gives me a broad perspective on software architecture. Patterns like MVC, Dependency Injection, and clean separation of concerns are applied across technologies.
Efficient and transparent communication with clients is my top priority.
PHP and .NET under one roof. Broad experience in web development and desktop software.
When it comes to delivery speed, I always have an ace up my sleeve.
Modern PHP is not a contradiction – it’s the foundation of clean web development. PHP 8.x brings union types, enums, match expressions, named arguments, and fibers. The language has evolved significantly: from “quick-and-dirty scripts” to type-safe, maintainable software.
I use Composer for dependency management, PSR standards for interoperability, strict typing, and a clean separation of concerns. The result is code that works today and remains readable and extensible for years to come.
Slim PHP is my most-used PHP mini-framework and my go-to choice for lean REST APIs, microservices, and lightweight web applications. No bloat, clear structure, fast implementation.
Slim follows the middleware principle and PSR standards. This makes it ideal for projects where a full framework like Symfony would be overkill. Typical use cases are API backends, internal tools, and integrations with third-party systems.
WordPress powers over 40% of all websites. As a platform for content management, blogs, and business websites, it is unmatched. My own website and several custom plugins run on WordPress.
I develop custom WordPress plugins, Gutenberg blocks, and theme modifications. I follow WordPress Coding Standards and build on clean hook architecture. From simple shortcodes to complex WooCommerce extensions, you get code that is secure, performant, and maintainable.
Symfony is my preferred framework for larger PHP web applications. With its Dependency Injection container, Event Dispatcher, and clearly structured component architecture, Symfony is ideal for enterprise projects with long lifespans.
Let's talk about your project.
No strings attached, no detours. Describe your project briefly and I'll get back to you promptly.
Get in touch →A question that comes up time and again. The short answer: it depends on the use case. PHP is the go-to choice for web projects, content management systems, APIs, and anything that runs in the browser. .NET, on the other hand, excels at Windows desktop applications, enterprise software, and complex systems.
As a developer experienced in both worlds, I can give you honest advice. Sometimes PHP is the right choice, sometimes .NET. In some projects, both are used together: a PHP-based web frontend with .NET-powered backend logic.

Mr. Skibbe impresses not only with his professional and personal approach to clients, but also with his competence in technical areas. We look forward to future .NET and other projects.
I look forward to continued collaboration so that our software challenges can be developed in a modern, fast, and lean way.
Top service and rapid live development of my employee management software. Happy to work together again!
I'm self-employed and constantly working on new projects. Robert gets involved, brings ideas to the table, and implements them incredibly fast!
Smaller projects typically cost around €500, mid-sized projects around €1,300, and large or complex projects several thousand euros. The exact price depends on scope, complexity, and desired code quality. Hourly billing provides more flexibility than fixed-price contracts.
I primarily work with Symfony and Slim PHP. Symfony for larger web applications with complex logic, Slim PHP for lean REST APIs and microservices, WordPress for content-driven projects. The choice depends on the specific project requirements.
Both technologies have their strengths. PHP dominates in web development and is ideal for websites, APIs, and content management systems. .NET is better suited for Windows desktop applications and enterprise software. The choice depends on the use case.
A good PHP developer should have demonstrable project experience and follow modern practices like Composer, PSR standards, and framework expertise. Cheap providers often deliver insecure, unmaintainable code. Specialized freelancers typically offer the best balance of quality and direct communication.
Yes. I build custom WordPress plugins tailored to your exact requirements. From Gutenberg blocks to REST API extensions and WooCommerce customizations. All plugins follow WordPress Coding Standards.
Source code ownership is a matter of contract. By default, copyright belongs to the developer unless the contract states otherwise. An explicit agreement on full code transfer or licensing should be made in writing before the project starts.
Looking for an experienced PHP developer for your next web project? I work with modern PHP 8.x, Slim PHP for lean APIs and microservices, WordPress for plugins, Gutenberg blocks, and custom themes, as well as Symfony for larger web applications. With clean architecture and direct communication, I'll bring your project to the finish line.
